Meet Anita Alaniz, DNP, FNP-C, WHNP
Anita Alaniz is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2001 and has a Master of Science in Nursing. She has a doctorate in nursing practice which she obtained at Arizona State University in 2015. She has been a nurse executive and has functioned as a Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Nursing at the San Carlos Apache Hospital and the San Carlos Apache Tribe for over 7 years. She was a nurse executive in Guadalupe, AZ and in Gallup, New Mexico.
Her experience as Nurse Practitioner includes pediatrics and adults, with a secondary in Women’s Health. She has experience in rural settings, especially in minority populations. Anita has a passion for developing programs needed in public health settings for under- served populations. She developed the plan for the school-based clinic and screening on the San Carlos Apache Reservation, along with establishing the school nurse program to collaborate with the Outpatient Clinics.
She developed the Maternal Child Health Program (MCHP) on the San Carlos Apache Reservation. The MCHP’s goals were to capture children’s immunizations, increase Well Child Exams, increase pap smears and breast exams for women, and target women for early prenatal care on the Reservation. She also worked closely with CDC and the State of Arizona with high incidences of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and other outbreaks on the Apache Reservation. Anita was a captain and retired Army Reservist where she served for 10 years. She assisted in training of medics for the 349th General Hospital unit in Los Angeles, California.
